What is CITY?

In order to address the overarching violence problems in high-need communities, UCAN is introducing the Chicagoland Institute for Transforming Youth (CITY).

CITY is UCAN's bold new solution to the violence crisis plaguing Chicago's communities. CITY seeks to transform young lives through programs promoting individual healing, self-empowerment and community transformation.

CITY will:

• Provide individualized prevention programs
• Guide young people away from violence through learning and leadership opportunities
• Impact the lives of more than 100,000 young people in the next five years
• Improve school attendance and academic performance outcomes
• Reduce the rate of violent disruptions in schools
• Create 150 supportive youth jobs in North Lawndale in two years
