The Best of Everything in Chicago:
This event on February 29 brought over 100 people to Level on Rush for an evening of great food and fun that raised over $6,000 for UCAN's social service programs and support for youth in care. Rod Hanby, winner of the 50/50 Raffle, below with Youth Leader Fred Long, generously turned back most of the stake to UCAN. The Silent Auction was a great success. This was a new event for us but everyone enjoyed it so much, it is sure to be repeated next year! Thank you to all who donated items for the Auction and who came out for a splendid evening.

Donor Recognition Reception and Annual Meeting:
The 57th floor of Chase Tower was the setting for our 5th Annual Donor Recognition Reception and Annual Meeting sponsored by our Board of Directors and Auxiliary Board. Incoming Auxiliary Board President Allison Winton (at the podium, second row of pictures) honored outgoing president Victoria Aviles. UCAN President and CEO Tom Vanden Berk gave an overview of the year and Presidents Board member Ronald J. Gidwitz, Principal, GCC Partners, (at the podium, second row of pictures) described the regional economic challenges and emphasized the need to reform Chicago's educational system to meet those challenges. Members of our community youth groups -- HANDS, H2C, PVM, and STARS -- talked with guests about their programs while the Scales of Justice (below left) volunteered their time to play for the gathering.
We are grateful to our board members and donors for the support they give to our programs and to the victims of abuse and trauma we serve.
