How is UCAN impacted by the FY2009 proposed State Budget?

Last week, the Illinois House of Representatives successfully overrode many of the Governor's vetoes to Human Services funding, including funding for DCFS, substance abuse, and mental health and community health and prevention services. Now, we need the members of the Illinois Senate to support the House's overrides.

Restoration of these funding cuts is critical to enable UCAN to continue to positively impact the more than 8,500 families and youth we serve.

Please contact your Senator and urge them to stand strong for Illinois' youth and families by fully restoring funding to DCFS and DHS.

If you don't know who your Senator is, or need contact information for them, please visit http://www.elections.il.gov/DistrictLocator/SelectSearchType.aspx?NavLink=1.

UCAN extends our deepest gratitude to everyone who supports us and makes it possible for us to build strong youth and families through compassionate healing, education and empowerment.  Thank you for your continued partnership!

UCAN Advocates for Progress

UCAN alumni are highly regarded as spokespeople for social service issues important to the youth and families we work with. Unlike professional lobbyists, our alumni have lived through many of the situations they are helping to improve or maintain. We train these young leaders to carry the message forward to our audiences, and great things happen!

UCAN also works to keep people aware of important dates and events related to social service issues.
