Meet Our Senior Leadership Team
Thomas C. Vanden Berk, President/Chief Executive Officer
Tom came to UCAN in 1987 as Executive Director. Tom received his Master's in Business at Roosevelt University, Chicago in January 1982.
Over the past 20 years through Tom's leadership, a dedicated Board of Directors and an outstanding senior leadership team, UCAN has been dedicated to serving youth across the state of Illinois. Tom has dedicated over 30 years of his career to improving the lives of abused, neglected children throughout the Chicagoland area.
Laura Angelucci, LCSW, Vice President, Administration and Planning
Laura has been with UCAN since 1990. She received her Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1992.
Laura plays a large role in the day-to-day administrative operations of the agency. In addition she is responsible for quality improvement initiatives at UCAN.
Jodi Doane, LCSW, Vice President, Government & Community Affairs
Jodi has been with UCAN since 1993. Jodi received her Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1996.
Jodi oversees government funding opportunities for programs. She works with elected officials and community leaders at the local, state and federal levels to advocate for the needs of UCAN clients and to develop community alliances to enhance our work.
Jayne Doyle, LCSW, Vice President, Teen Parenting Service Network (TPSN)
Jayne has been with UCAN since January 2002. Jayne received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago.
Jayne oversees TPSN, who is responsible to provide case monitoring for teen parents as well as counseling, family planning, parenting support, and education among to assist teen parents. TPSN provides encouragement to teen parents to nurture and care for their children
Carl Koerner, Vice President, Foster Care & Family Based Services
Carl led FamilyCare of Illinois for 13 years prior to its merger with UCAN in 2004. Carl received his Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana.
Carl oversees UCAN's various foster care programs. Each of these programs trains, supports and monitors foster families so each child receives the best possible care. Homemaker services and family support services are also programs that provide in-home support to families at-risk.
Marjory Gustke Kostoglanis, LCSW, SPHR, Vice President of Human Resources
Marjory has been with UCAN since 1993. She received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Science in Human Resources from Loyola University Chicago.
The Human Resources department assists UCAN employees regarding staffing needs, training, development and other employee relations.
Nacole Millbrook, Vice President, Clinical and Counseling Services
Nacole has been with UCAN since 2004. She received her Masters in Counseling from Western Illinois University in 1998.
Nacole oversees UCAN's outpatient therapy program, offering a variety of clinical services to youth, couples and families. Nacole also handles clinical services for TPSN youth including creative trauma interventions.
Francisco Monzon, Vice President, Transitional Teen Services (TTS)
Francisco has been with UCAN since 1992. He received his Masters in Social Service Administration from The University of Chicago.
Francisco oversees several programs that focus their work with older and emancipated teens, helping them become more self-sufficient by teaching young adults to live independently and teaching teen parents healthy parenting techniques, to help stop the cycle of abuse.
Fredrick J. Patz , Vice President, Educational Services
Fred has been with UCAN since August 1996. Fred received his Master's in Special Education from Chicago State University.
Fred oversees the Uhlich Academy and High School, an innovative 1st - 12th grade therapeutic day school. Our schools focus on special education youth with behavior problems, emotional issues or learning disabilities.
Claude A. Robinson, Jr. , Vice President, Youth Development Initiative (U-LEAD)
Claude has been with UCAN since 1995. Claude received his Master's of Science in Counseling at Chicago State University.
Claude specializes in the personal development, education and motivation of young adults, providing them with life skills, career development and leadership training to help them realize their full potential.
Zack Schrantz, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
Zack has been with UCAN since 1990. Zack received his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Zack oversees UCAN's programs ensuring quality implementation and services to clients and families. In his role as CFO Zack oversees the day-to-day operations of the finance department.
Barb West Stone, Vice President, Development
Barb has been with UCAN since January 2007. Barb received her Bachelors degree from Southern Methodist University in Texas.
Barb's role is to elevate public awareness for UCAN's mission and raise capital from individuals, corporations and foundations to support the youth and families UCAN serves.
