What's Being in Foster Care Really Like?
Find out from the youth themselves as the Strong Connections Theater Ensemble presents their first dramatic work on Sept 19th in Chicago.
The Strong Connections Theater Ensemble is a group of young adults who are alumni of the Illinois child welfare system. Their first production is a 45-minute play that they wrote and perform in themselves. In it, they relate their life stories and the personal impact of their journey through foster care. They emphasize their struggle to find and maintain meaningful personal connections along the way. The Ensemble has been guided in their work by the accomplished Still Point Theater Collective.
The opening performance will be Friday, September 19, at 7:30 pm at the Salvation Army Chapel at 1 North Ogden, Chicago, IL. Afterwards, there will be a question-and-answer time, as well as a reception. This performance will be in memory of Rose Love, who worked in adoptions throughout her life at the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services and at Adoptions Unlimited. We hope you will be able to attend.
