FamilyWorks
FamilyWorks serves Chicago Housing Authority residents in the far southwest region of Chicago, including Auburn-Gresham, Ashburn, Beverly, Chicago Lawn, Morgan Park, Riverdale (includes Altgeld-Murray Homes), Roseland (includes Lowden Homes), Washington Heights, West Lawn and West Pullman. All aspects of the program focus on the FamilyWorks goals of employment and permanent housing choice for families. Elements include:
- Outreach and engagement: UCAN case managers build strong relationships with CHA residents through direct outreach efforts.
- Case management: FamilyWorks inplements a tiered system of case management to tailor service intensity according to the families' needs.
- Career services: A team of Employment & Job Retention Specialists work with UCAN's case managers to assist residents with job preparation, training, securing and retaining employment.
- Clinical services: UCAN's team of licensed, masters-level therapists are experienced in addressing a wide-range of problems residents face including substance abuse, trauma, domestic violence and other mental health issues.
- Supportive services: UCAN recognizes the need for additional services to its CHA residents including financial literacy, professional Homemaker services, parenting support, and on-site GED classes.
