Parent & Family Education

Parenting and Family Education Classes and Seminars help families develop the skills they need to create a nurturing home. These education programs have been court approved. In addition to the group classes, parents are offered supplementary assistance during weekly home visits. This education series is also available to corporations, schools, houses of worship, and organizations where parents/ families meet.

UCAN's Parenting and Family Education classes encourage mutual respect between parent and child, increase cooperation, improve communication, and promote a more responsible and self-reliant attitude among children. The classes consist of instructional sessions providing information regarding the developmental needs of children and encourage parents to adopt safe and nurturing daily parenting practices. UCAN helps parents evaluate and improve their methods and practices in providing daily supervision and management of their children. Responsive relationships with consistent primary caregivers help children build positive attachments that support healthy social-emotional development. Parenting and Family Education classes teach the importance of forming these relationships - which form the foundation of mental health for infants, toddlers and preschoolers that lead them to live healthy, productive lives.¹
